A Target Hair Raising Event!!!

I have posted previously about the importance of carrying your coupon policy with you. You never know when you will need it.

Well, I made the mistake today!!! I went out and was not planning to stop by Target. I was not prepared with my coupon book and my policies in tow.

I stopped by Target to pick up a few back to school items and thought I would take advantage of the General Mill Cereal freebies. I went to customer service and printed my coupons in the store. At checkout, I used the coupons and the register beeped. The cashier said I could not use the coupons. She said I could not get the item for free. I clearly stated the coupon is a Target coupon and does not have minimum size limit, I had another Target coupon for a different item which clearly had a size limit and showed her the difference with the 2 target coupons. She then proceeded to call a supervisor over to the register.

The supervisor stated that I could not use the coupon because the item would be free. I then reiterated the same information I had told the cashier, the supervisor said the coupon is not for that item. I asked her to read the coupon and look at the item and tell me why it was not the same. She said because it just isn't, you can't get it for free. I was getting frustrated, I knew with the corporate policy(the one I did not have on hand) that I was correct. I told the supervisor that was incorrect and I would be back with the copy of the corporate policy printed directly from their website.

I am just so tired of being treated like a second class citizen because I am smart enough to use coupons! Why doesn't Target(Corporate) teach their Stores (Managers to cashiers) the corporate policy since it is clearly available on their website for anyone to access!!!!!!

Note:
I called Target Guest Relations when I got home and asked if there was any deviations from the printed policy on their site or any adjustments at the Store Manager's discretion. I was told that all Target stores should be following the same coupon policy. The person I spoke with stated the next time I have an issue using coupons please have them call Target Guest Relations at (800) 440-0680 while still in the store. The Guest Relations Team will help assist with any questions the store associates may have about coupons.

Next time I will do just that!!!!!

The moral of this story is BE PREPARED!!!!!

Here is the direct link to Target's Coupon Policy.
Please print this and keep it with you!! I suggest to keep a second copy to give to those associates who do not know the COUPON POLICY!!!!

Thank you Thrifty Moms for allowing me to vent my frustrations.

This must have happened at the Burlington Target! I am frequently treated badly at that store when I use coupons.
